[IN PERSON SEMINAR & WEBINAR] Data Centre Risks & Associated Claims: A Broker and Underwriter Perspective
Demand for data centres is surging, while construction capacity is under pressure. How is that shaping risk and claims?
Join your NSW insurance industry colleagues for an open discussion on the current state of the data centre environment in Australia and how it intersects with today’s construction market conditions. We’ll hear from two seasoned construction industry experts: a broker with 18 years’ experience placing cover on some of the world’s most complex projects, and an underwriter who leads a national Casualty construction portfolio and prices and carries the risk. Together they will help us understand where the risks sit and which claims are most prevalent.
Hear from our guests
Alistair McBride, Head of Construction, Pacific, Howden (the broker’s view) Alistair leads Construction for Howden Pacific. He provides overall strategy and direction for the team across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, while also acting as a trusted advisor for all of Howden’s construction clients and prospects. This eighteen-year insurance and risk management journey has allowed Alistair to provide insurance and risk management expertise in Canada, the US, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.
Prior to joining Howden in 2024, Alistair spent six years as the Global Corporate Risk Manager for PCL Construction, a leading global contractor with annual revenues exceeding $12 billion. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing enterprise and project-specific insurance programs across the United States, Canada, and Australia, while leading project insurance placement and risk management strategy for some of the industry’s most complex developments, with single project values up to $8B.
Cameron Hill, Casualty Construction Segment Leader, Australia, Liberty (the underwriter’s view) Cam began his insurance career in Newcastle NSW with a large domestic insurer. From there he held a number of underwriting roles with both an international insurer, and Lloyd’s syndicate, prior to joining Liberty’s Sydney Casualty team in 2018 as a Senior Underwriter. He now leads Liberty’s Casualty construction portfolio nationally. Cameron holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Newcastle and is a Fellow of ANZIIF.
